JESSICA BONIFAS

Growing up in New England, Jessica Bonifas always felt deeply connected to the unique environment and natural diversity of the land. Her work focuses on raising awareness for conservation of natural landscapes and resources, specifically in the New England area. This photography series includes habitats that are essential to the survival of humans and wildlife. Bonifas’ intention is to construct visual narratives that inspire empathy and understanding in her audience, and to stimulate awareness of conservation of the natural world through art.

Jessica Bonifas is a New Hampshire based filmmaker, photographer of landscapes, and dedicated environmental activist. Bonifas’ work has been displayed in the annual Essex Art Center “Crow Show” exhibition in 2020. She earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and continues to work with Massachusetts non-profit organizations that promote land conservation and protection of the Merrimack River. She is currently a first-year MFA candidate at Lesley University’s College of Art and Design in the Photography and Integrated Media program with a focus on film.
